I have worked in education for 36 years, teaching across the educational spectrum before setting up my own business Dottys Dyslexia in 2016. I am an advocate of SEND and have worked in schools across Yorkshire, both inner city and rural, as a teacher, specialist teacher of dyslexia and an access assessor. Experience has enabled me to understand the difficulties of our young children in their learning environment and that recommendations should be practical, relevant and individualised. I assess for Dyslexia as a BDA-accredited assessor, which enables the identification of an individual’s strengths to support their learning. I am a registered assessor with SASC and hold an assessment Practising Certificate, which enables me to carry out DSA assessments for HE students.
