About our Directory

Assessors can assess and produce reports which help families to seek appropriate help in schools or when applying for exam arrangements.

Some tutors are able to provide reports that can assist with the planning of individual learning programme. Any specific concerns and issues should be discussed and clarified with tutor. This will enable a choice of options to be considered.

First step - ask your school!

We always advice parents to first speak to the class teacher and if possible SENco. You should also check the school’s SEN policy on Dyslexia. Some schools may carry out an assessment or ask advice from Learning Support Services but in our experience, this does not often happen.

Every school must have a SEND dyslexia policy which details the provision for dyslexic students, this should be on the school’s website. Ask your school‘s secretary if you cannot find it on their website.

About Me

I am a HCPC registered Counselling and Occupational Psychologist, having worked as a psychologist for over 20 years. I am experienced in assessing student's for specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia and dyspraxia. I have completed over 2000 assessments over the past 8 years.
I became interested in assessing for dyslexia after working for JobCentre Plus as a Senior Psychologist, managing a team of Work Psychologists across the Yorkshire region. This team supported clients with a range of disabilities who were seeking employment, as well as those who needed help to retain their work. This one-to-one work ignited my passion for working with people to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses and support them to get the best out of their work and studies.
I have worked in a variety of other roles as a psychologist, both in the public and private sector, and have extensive experience of assessment in a range of settings, including recruitment, promotion and examination.
I am keen to ensure that everyone I assess feels comfortable and safe during their assessment experience so that it provides a fair assessment of their abilities, at that moment in time. I take a down-to-earth but professional approach to ensure that people understand the process and can make an informed decision about their assessment and report.
I can offer assessments remotely and in person at offices in Pocklington and York City Centre. At home assessments could be arranged by discussion.

A range of assessments:
Dyslexia assessments (self-referral, including those required for DSA funding at university). Fee £450.
Dyslexia assessments (referred by employer). Fee £550.
Access arrangement assessments to determine the need for special arrangements for examinations, including GCSEs, A'levels, degrees and vocational courses.
Assessment of the impact of dyslexia on mental health.
Workplace needs assessments for employees with dyslexia.

Services to support individuals with dyslexia include:
One-to-one coaching for individuals with dyslexia to address the mental health impact of their difficulties.

Services to help organisations to support staff with dyslexia, including:
Development of policies and best practice on dyslexia.
Recommendations on dyslexia-friendly practices in the workplace.
Training for staff and managers on dyslexia.
